Reminder of Requirements for Spectators

Jan. 17, 2022

Based on the recent increase in COVID spread, Strathcona County has asked that we remind all of our membership and spectators that as a condition of entering indoor recreation facilities, the Alberta Government requires that all individuals must wear a face mask at all times while attending an indoor public space.  Applicable general exceptions to this are as follows:

  • If the person (youth or adult) is participating in an indoor physical activity;
  • If a person is seated while consuming food or drink;

Facility staff want to remind spectators that you are to bring your mask back up between sips, and not utilize a having a drink in hand as an excuse to keep your mask down.

MEDICAL EXEMPTIONS

The current public health order also provides mask exemption for certain medical conditions.  Anyone unable to wear a mask due to an approved medical condition will require a medical exception letter from an authorized health professional (nurse practitioner, physician or psychologist).

The medical exception letter must includes the following:

  • the name of the person to whom the exception applies;
  • the name, phone number, email address, professional registration number, and
  • signature of the authorizing health professional; and
  • the date on which the written confirmation was provided.

Thanks for your continued cooperation in helping maintain participant safety, and to reduce COVID spread.

 Regards,
